The SEA-Teacher project aims to provide an opportunity for pre-service teachers from universities in Southeast Asia to have teaching experiences (practicum) in schools in other countries in Southeast Asia.
Based on the SEAMEO seven priority areas for the eleven SEAMEO Member countries to work together to improve the quality of education in Southeast Asia, "Revitalizing Teacher Education" is one of the priority areas in building and strengthening the capacity of teachers in the region.
Aside from the professional development of the participants, attendance in the program will result in to enhancement of the teaching skills and pedagogy of the pre-service teachers of the College of Education. More so, it will aid the college in producing competitive teachers in the global context.
ABOUT ME
Kenneth M. Monteverde was born in Quezon City, Philippines, in 2001. He is currently taking a program of Bachelor of Secondary Education – Major in English at Cavite State University – Don Severino delas Alas Campus, Indang, Cavite, Philippines. He has been a consistent academic scholar at the institution from 2020 to the present. For his primary education, he graduated from San Gabriel Elementary School in Quezon City in 2014 with academic distinction. In secondary education, he is a consistent academic excellence awardee, a student leader, and an outstanding journalist. He completed Junior High School at Luis Y. Ferrer Jr. West National High School at General Trias, Cavite, in 2017 as a batch valedictorian and received recognition of leadership award. He graduated Senior High School in St. Jude Parish School Inc. at Trece Martires City in 2019 with his chosen academic track, Humanities and Social Sciences, and received the highest award, the St. Jude Thaddeus award, silver academic awardee, leadership award, and outstanding student journalist.
Mr. Monteverde joined several academic organizations, which allows him to sharpen his leadership and communication skills. He joined Supreme Student Government, Youth for Environment in Schools-Organization (YES-O), and Campus Journalism “Ang Kawayan” at Luis Y. Ferrer Jr. West National High School. More so, during Senior High School, he is an advocate of Youth Empowerment, a Student Council, and a Campus Journalist, “The Wooden Cane” at St. Jude Parish School, Inc. He also joined the College of Education Student Council as Assistant Secretary in the year 2021 at Cavite State University - Don Severino delas Alas Campus.
He has attended several trainings, and seminars that equipped him with the necessary knowledge and skills needed for academic and professional demands. He attended the Regional Children’s Month Celebration with the theme "Bata: Iligtas sa Droga!" held at the Development Academy of the Philippines, Tagaytay City, Cavite. Also, he is a participant in the E-lecture Series about “Philippine English in the Realm of the New Normal” held at the College of Arts, Cavite State University. He also attended the Research Seminar 2022 of the College of Education with the theme “Capacitating Students in Embracing the Culture of Developing Quality Research Outputs” held at Rolle Hall, Cavite State University - Don Severino delas Alas Campus, on November 2022.
At present, Mr. Monteverde is a Licensed Professional Advisor at Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc., where he practices his sales skills and helps educate Filipinos about financial literacy.
